Joyous Mayhem

One child was wonderful.  Two was even better!  But 3?  Joyous mayhem!  And both of those words are magnified more than I ever thought possible!

Seth is climbing things faster than I can keep track of!  He has found his way to the top of the kitchen table, and he has figured out that he can climb just about anything if he pushes over a chair or other stepping stool.

(Nice photo-bomb Sariah!)

James is so sweet, loving, snuggly, and...EMOTIONAL.  He swings from happy to sad so fast, and sometimes that is tough to work with.  No matter what position I am sitting or laying in, he'll always find a "nest" to curl up in.

Joyous mayhem.  We're about to start 3 weeks of fall break.  Let the mayhem continue!

Ants Up My Pants

Seth crawled across an ant nest.  Poor guy got bit 100+ times.  Sariah was quick-thinking and ran and grabbed the hose so I could spray him off.  It took about 2 weeks before the bites, and the remnants of them, were completely gone.

The Cookie Monster

Oh this boy.  He is full of jibber jabber, destroying everything in his path, colorful temper tantrums, and slobbery kisses.

AND he has discovered how to open our doors.  Awesome.

With that came the discovery of cookies.

The following pictures tell his tale...

And yes...pants are overrated.

Our First Home. August 2014.

Every married couple dreams of the day when they can purchase their first home.  For some, it takes just a couple of years while they finish college.  For others, it takes a little longer.  For us, it took almost 13 years of marriage.  But this home was worth the wait.  It is perfect.

The story of how we got this home is a testimony of timing.  The Lord's timing.  The home came on the market in October 2013, and it was out of our price range.  We decided to look at it anyhow because we wanted an idea of what was on the market, how much homes were, and the different price ranges of homes.  We looked at things under, within, and over our range.  And then someone put in an offer.  No problem - we were just beginning to look and had our hearts set on another neighborhood.  The home was a short sale, and was taking a while to process.  The family that put in the offer found something different, and they walked.  And then the price dropped $15k and was miraculously $50 below our limit.  We looked at it again and put our offer in at the end of January.

Anyone who has been through a short sale know that it is anything but short.  But a mere 6 months later, and we had the approval from the bank and were finally in the closing process.  When it was all said and done, it took about 7 months to be ours, with keys in hand.

Every time I walk into the home, I feel like I am dreaming.  For the first week, my eyes would tear up because I just couldn't believe we were finally able to own our own home.

I am getting everything settled and in its place.  It is kind of a mess right now, but here are the beginning pictures.  But you know what?  It's okay.  Because it is ours.  And it will come together in time.  The walls are naked and I haven't put out any decorations because I'm the kind of person who wants to live in my space to decide what feels right.  That and I'm terrible at decorating so I'm waiting for friends to help!

Rite of Passage

She decided she wanted bangs.

You can imagine what happened next.

It wasn't that bad.  Really.  It could have been a lot worse.

Sister McFarland gave her bangs.  Real ones.  Nice ones.

We dodged this rite of passage for 7 years.  Here's to hoping it's the last time!

Sariah - 7! 7! 7!

Oh this girl who made me a mom!  How do I even start to describe her personality and our love for her?  I don't think I can.  She is fiesty, loving, shy sometimes, snuggly sometimes, and just pure joy.  She is growing faster than I can stand it.  I love you my first born.  Keep being yourself, and keep being strong!

She got to do something today that she hasn't ever done.  She took treats to school for her birthday!  Because her birthday is in July, school is normally out.  We are at a new school now due to our impending move, and it is year-round.  Treats on her birthday.  You would have thought she won the lottery!

After a particularly LONG morning of arguing amongst themselves, not minding their mother, and losing priveledges...they made lunch together.

Phew.

I will survive one more day.

Boys and their lizards

They stayed like this for 15 minutes.  That's about 10 years in toddler-time.  They were spying lizards.

4th of July at the cabin

Cousins

Baking
Climbing rocks
WAY too much "Hand and Foot"
Not enough sleep
Reading books
Getting dirty...really dirty...
Rain
Family
That's the cabin.

And the only pictures I got were of all of us headed up there. 6 kids under the age of 6, and the two of us.  Was a very eventful trip.  Oh well!  It can only get easier, right??
