Can you tell I've been packing?
I'm actually surprised that James climbed in here! He usually undoes everything I do and I was completely expecting him to empty it out. Instead, he grabbed his little fuzzy panda book and sat right in!
We've also been running around like crazy...
And playing Peek-A-Boo...
And trying on new winter gloves...kind of...
And the girls? Well, they were having their own kind of fun...
It is very interesting the fascination children take with certain objects. Take suitcases for example. These girls played in them for a good 45 minutes while I laid clothes out. They traded suitcases, closed each other up in them, pretended they were in boats and rowed to get away from the alligators that were chasing them, and having a great time!
In short, we're going away for Thanksgiving. Like to 30 and 40 degree weather, across the country. It's a direct flight, thank goodness. My carry on bag is armed with new snacks, new toys, new books, and a couple of movies...and Benedryl. As a last resort. Don't judge. It's not for me, because I can handle a cranky toddler. It's for the sanity of the people around me. You know you've rolled your eyes when you saw the person in front of you or behind you with a toddler because you just KNEW what the flight was going to be like! So to be polite and not invoke the fury or pity of those around me, I may have to drug my child. Sariah will be fine, but we'll have to see about Sweet Baby James.
In short, we're ready to go! We'll see you soon, Grandma and Grandpa Franklin!

Amber, you crack me up. "Don't judge me ... I may have to drug my child." SO funny! Best of luck and can't wait to hear about it when you get back.
It makes me laugh that you "drug your child." We all do, DON'T WE???!?!
Look at the back of the bottle...it says (something along the lines of) 'Do not use to make children sleepy.'
I laughed out loud when I read that because you know they put it there because that's what EVERYONE uses it for! We're all guilty at some point!
Enjoy your trip! Stay warm! We'll miss you! ;)
Drugging once in a great while or bribery - everything child experts tell you not to do but most mothers know that they work!
I was surprised how many people were totally nice about me having a baby on an international flight. Actually more passengers were kind to me than the stewardesses. But Reid did great. We were armed with our arsenal of new things too... and it worked. You'll be fine! Good luck!
(p.s. the ear thing - eating snacks worked just as great as a bottle/sippy cup for the take-off / landing parts for Reid.)
